Description:
The United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI). USEFI
promotes mutual understanding between the citizens of India and the citizens
of the USA through educational exchange of outstanding scholars, professionals
and students. Also known as the Fulbright Commission, USEFI enables research,
lecture and study primarily through :
Fellowships for Indian citizens and U.S. citizens
Educational advising on higher education in the USA
Academic seminars in India involving the Fulbright community
Interaction with Fulbright alumni and supporters.
General Prerequisites for Fulbright Applicants: The applicant
should:
-be a responsible Indian citizen who can contribute to a full and fair
picture of the culture and civilization of India, and thereby help
to promote understanding and friendship between the peoples of the United
States of America and India;
have a high level of academic/professional achievement;
-demonstrate proficiency in the English language which is commensurate
with the project that s/he wishes to pursue and is adequate to adjust
to life in the U.S. The applicant may be required to take the Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL);
-be present in India at the time of submitting the application and for
the interview (if required);
-be eligible for leave, if employed;
-be in good health;
-not be applying for or holding permanent residence (green card) in the
United States;and
-not have been in the U.S. during the past three years on a teaching,
research, study or professional assignment for a continuous period of
three months or more, at the time of submitting the application.
